donald brook is here
Where are we?
"This is not the name of any player.
we are here
so we will wait
I have a pc and it wont translate
to deal with one issue of intentionality
we will talk on the object and text paper by donald brook
there are only two kinds of art
all art is either poetry or it is sculpture
painting is hybrid"
real things and intentional objects
a blast of this paper
only with language can you generate them
everything has many attributes
many of them will be discovered
you can give intentional objects attributes
there is nothing to be discovered
you can play wonderful games with objects
there is a kind of futiltiy in dealing with intentional objects
an adventure in social realtions
language is the only form of representation
poetry is always
some reading of the poem is moving
even words are objects in the world
wver word is a decopmpression of the air
full intention to the poet
nothing to do with doing things on
an intended object
there is nothing to be discovered
there are possiblities that can’t be shared
common language
my dog can not recognise pictures
sensory perceptable things"
i am not committed to the lump of stone
When something is reproduce electronically what is different in terms of intentionality"
countless attributes"
how is the electronic different to the physical
unsymbolised
reproducing sound in contrast to producing
we will be able percieve attributes
is that sound pure or is it filtered?
where does the material begin?
the division is not as clean as it could be
there is a tree
there is a photo of a tree
we see a tree in the painting as the intended object
language is conventional
we can change our linguistic
it is not convention on the model of painting
red would represent the distant hills we would set up what convention we like
there is a colour that will disappear against that wall
perspectival games
illusionistic
linguistically mediated
regarding everything as textural
this is a totally wrong view
so thing more than a battle of rhetorics
many forms sensory perceptable on one side
humans first started to name things"
they named attributes
that is a different meaning of intentional?
which came first and which came second is crucial
it is a matter of originating not quoting
originality and plaguarism
value is important
liking and admiring things
liking is different to admiring things
Distincton between like and admire
"like" is unarguable
"admiration" is essentially arguable
Barbarism - "finding reasons to admire what we like"
value systems get themselves constructed and judgements are different
we place a value upon
as we construct objects they construct us
imanent world is being treated as agents
glancing
it has huge implications of rethinking art education
